Netflix to stream moves through PSN and live?

According to this site, it is not only true, but has evidence from an actual survey being passed around in emails. If true, this represents a large step in regards to digital distribution in regard to movie rentals.

From part of the survey itself:

"Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your Internet-connected Playstation 3.  Simply insert a special Netflix disc into your PS/3 to enable instant movie streaming.  The disc is available from Netflix for a one-time fee of $3."

"Now you can watch movies from Netflix instantly by using your existing Xbox LIVE account.  You can choose from over 7,000 movies and TV series, and your choice starts playing on your TELEVISION in as little as 30 seconds. "

"Watching is included in your Netflix plan.  There are no extra fees and there are no limits on how much you can watch. "

Since the survey does exists and the odds of it being fake are small, this is a very exciting step in regards to watching movies on consoles and there is no doubt more people will be supporting this.

New Matchup - 2k & Unreal Engine

It would seem that the newest users of the Unreal Engine is 2k Games. Gamers know 2k games for the sport series as well as The Gamer Studio's "show (third place)" canidate for GOTY Bioshock which used the UE. Third aint bad by anymeans, as we totally loved the game...awesome plasmids and all.

Does this mean Bioshock 2... well, I would think that was wrapped up when the finished product was so awesome. Anyway, take a look at the press release, com it for details and get back to us with your thoughts.

2k Games Licenses Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3

CARY, N.C. (February 12, 2008) - Epic Games, Inc., one of the world's leading developers of cutting-edge computer and video games and the pioneer of the award-winning Unreal Engine, today announced that its Unreal Engine 3 technology and tools will be used for unannounced games in development by 2K Games, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO).

"2K had a very positive experience working with Epic's Unreal Engine 3 since it enables games to perform exceptionally well on both console and the PC," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "Epic's technology and support is expected to help 2K produce world-class titles for games on any platform."

"We are excited about continuing our relationship with 2K based on our past success with the company," said Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games. "We have no doubt that the Unreal Engine 3 will continue to assist 2K in producing the industry's most amazing and original games."

Send them our love - Donate your used games

The Iraq war is senseless, that is not debatable, but that doesn't mean our troops have to suffer. We here at The Studio love causes that help those who may not be in a  position to get the games they want. Luckily, the good people at CAG (cheapassgamer.com) has started up a way for everyone to actually send their games to gamers out there risking their lives.

The "Donate Games to the Troops in Iraq" campaign has brought a smile to our and hopefully many other soldiers faces. For anyone who wants to send out their games can do so by airmailing those old games on the shelf to the destination. If your worrying about shipping, its not bad, as it is shouldn't be more than sending off anything to your grandma to get your extra Christmas money.

When those games arrive, you will receive photos via flickr showing that they have arrived, and most likely a huge smile on someone who hasn't had a reason to for the last couple months. Even if you do not support the war, even if you don't like Bush, become a philanthropist for those who don't have that choice. Isn't better than just simply getting that measly 8 bucks at Gamestop, and we all know your not playing them anyway.

To lead the way we here at the Studio will be sending off games. Our List so far includes:

Fable: The Lost Chapters (XBOX)
The Punisher (XBOX)
Jet Set Radio Future (XBOX)
The Red Star (PS2)

Links:

The Campaign Jump
The Flikr
The Official Thread on thier Message Boards

Address to send your games to:

SK1 Shane Neuhaus
30 NCR DET 1
FPO AP 09381-1702

Added Bonus: For those who do decide to donate email us with your proof and you just may find something interesting in your mailbox later this year.

Sony Snags Another One.....

The previously 360 and PC-only Splinter Cell Conviction is now also set for a simultaneous release on PS3, according major UK retailer GAME.

The site also pens the game to release on all three formats on April 1, despite previous announcements only stating a vague early 2008 release.

As we all know, retailers have a tendency to let slip on things publishers don't always want revealed. Just look at Konami's latest announcement, of which first word came from a very similar posting.

However, Ubisoft UK has told CVG that neither a PS3 version of Conviction, or any proposed release date, have been confirmed by the publisher.

We knew that though, that's why we called. We'll keep the sniffer dogs out on this one...

Source: CVG

Well... Looks like PS3 owners can actually be happy if they enjoy themselves some Splinter Cell.

Somebody Talked - Starlite Cancelled

Well...it was coming eventually, but it is the end of the Starlite DS. The Starcraft  has been ghost nuked given a cease and desist notice to shut down. It was great while it lasted...they just added multiplayer.

Echochrome due on March 19th.....

According to siliconera.com, the PSP and PS3 versions of Echochrome will both be released on March 19th. Pricing has yet to be announced, but estimates place the PSP version at about 35 dollars. It is believed the PSN downloadable version will cost a little less. This is good news for the Studio, as we were impressed by the E3 footage of this unique puzzle title. Glad to see we'll have it sooner than later.

Dead Space Also Going to PC.....

Dead Space, a first person shooter by Electronic Arts, will also be released on PC. Previously, the game was only headed to Playstation 3 and X-Box 360. Dead Space will also have a sequel, as the story will not end with the first game.

In Dead Space, players take control of Isaac Clarke, an engineer on a spaceship. One faithful day at work, he's confronted by space zombies. The logical course of action is to wipe them all out as one would think. Gravity will play a role in both shooting and puzzle segments of gameplay.

The game will be released somewhere during the end of 2008.

New Leisure Suit Larry Game Announced.....

Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is the title of the next Larry game.

Larry will be taking a job at a movie studio in Office Bust. He'll have to find a mole planted by a rival studio by platforming, exploring, racing and solving puzzles. The game also has a feature allowing players to put together their own Larry movies.

The game is voiced by an ensemble cast; Jay Mohr (Last Comic Standing), Dave Attell (Insomniac), Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie), Carmen Electra (Starsky and Hutch), Artie Lange (Mad TV), Patrick Warburton (Family Guy), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development), Nikki Cox (Las Vegas), Peter Graves (Mission Impossible) and Jane Lynch (The 40 Year Old Virgin).

The game, developed by Team17, has received an M rating, and will be released this fall on 360, PS3 and PC.

Rumor: GTA out in March?

This is a VERY interesting piece of info. If true, it would explain Super Smash Brothers Brawl delay. Fans of GTA should look out for more information on this, as it could just be a rumor and therefore be untrue. But any good news about GTA is something to look forward to.

A paper circular from national computer and electronics chain, Micro Center, included a new program selling used games but also included a page-wide ad at the bottom that depicted the Grand Theft Auto IV box visuals with a date -- "March 08." While a Saturday release would be out of the norm, it would ensure that gamers with the day off would be waiting in line.

The Real Losers in the Used Game Industry.....

From next-gen itself.

It seems that publishers don't make any revenue from used game sales at all, which is logical and understandable. But that doesn't stop publishers from voicing their anger at this in more ways than one. Apparently the publisher and developer suffer the most, because they get no say at all in regards to the pricing of used games. Not to mention they don't even see a cent of it. Seems unfair considering those two are the people we rely on to get these games to us on timely schedules.

Read the article and tell us here at Gamer Studio what you think.

Walmart Selling Super Smash Bros Brawl For 19.99?

According to PunchJump, Walmart began taking pre-orders today for Brawl. The listed price was 19.99. Now I am not sure if that is the price for the game or the price you have to pay to pre-order. But if they are selling it at 19.99, that has to be one of the greatest deals in gaming history. I'd buy it, and I don't even have a Wii yet!

PS3 Lost Planet Gets Exclusive Playable Character

According to Famitsu, the PS3 version of Lost Planet will allow you to play as Luka, the female lead from the game. Capcom is said to be trying to entice PS3 owners who haven't yet played the game. Hopefully she isnt a waste of time to play with as I have never played the game.

Resistance 2 in Upcoming GameInformer!

Megaton? Yes. Epic? Yes.

Thanks to steve and wollan from neogaf:

"RESISTANCE 2

I just got my latest GameInformer and its cover feature is Resistance 2!!!!!!

Checking it out now... will update. (didn't see this on first two pages so assumed it hasn't been posted)

EDIT 1: HUGE cooperative game... EIGHT-PLAYER story-driven campaign along side single-player campaign. SIXTY-PLAYER Competitive modes... HUGE United States Landscapes as backdrops.

EDIT 2: "It is, in short, a tour de force for the untapped might of the PlayStation 3"

EDIT 3: Narrative stays with Hale the whole time... not Rachel. Hale shot down in Iceland, escapes to US and becomes part of program called Sentinels...

EDIT 4: Chameleon.. Stalker with total cloaking ability

EDIT 5: Overcoming stigma that boss encounters don't work in FPS games..

EDIT 6: Eight player co-op over PSN, two player local

EDIT 7: CLASSES! Unique character with one of three basic templates... tank with heavy weaponry, special ops for distance (bullseye modified with zoom), medic

I'm READING FAST!

http://boards.ign.com/ps3_general_bo...7131205/p1/?13

I cant make my own thread, stupid gaf mods., someone make a thread!

EDIT 8: Online matching... standard difficulty discarded for scaled challenges for team skill..

EDIT 9: Partially randomized geometry... levels are different with each playthrough

EDIT 10: again... 60 players online. want sense of epic battle.. dont want fast-furious gameplay to be focus, more focused on squad v squad.

EDIT 11: will log into smaller four-to-eight man lobbies for each squad... encouraging communication and camaraderie, squad will be tasked with a particular objective. careful level design aims to deliver intense combat zones or small team conflicts that flow within arena of larger battle.

EDIT 12: Dedicated gaming community with stat servers for faster matchmaking than any console game of 2007. full-featured profile pages through myresistance.net will incorporate social networking concepts. open clan and party system to encourage community...no player invites needed.

EDIT 13: Aiming to deliver mobile-phone-quality sound.

EDIT 14: Further tapped power of PS3... more enemies onscreen, better AI, better lighting and shaders (SCREENSHOTS LOOK AMAZING!!!). More complex normal mapping and detail mapping combine to deliver textures that look amazing from afar and at extremely close distances.

EDIT 15: AI getting a lot more attention.. will scaled on-the-fly to players perspective and viewpoint... aka enemies closer to the player will actually have more sophisticated AI routines than those further away. assailants in your direct field of view received heightened intelligence. easily more cunning than before

sorry for typos... typing fast

EDIT 16: listened to complaints... working on solution to long checkpoints and health system. not positive what final solution will be.

EDIT 17: "Our time playing was a blast"... each character class contributes in a unique way and "we loved the strategy-laden medic"... unique sense of teamwork

EDIT 18: Mysterious "Cloven"

EDIT 19: "Resistance 2 will be too epic to dismiss as anything but one of the biggest, boldest, and most high-reaching titles of 2008. It's a game that won't be ignored." [END ARTICLE]

Valve Acquires Turtle Rock Studios!

Just announced on Steam. Pretty big news for such a new studio.

VALVE ACQUIRES TURTLE ROCK STUDIOS

Leading Content and Technology Company Adds California Studio

January 10, 2008 - Fresh off the success of The Orange Box, the 2007 game of the year award-winning collection of new games heralded as "the best value in gaming history," Valve Corporation announces the acquisition of Turtle Rock Studios, the Orange County-based development house behind one of 2008's most anticipated games, Left 4 Dead.

Valve was founded in 1996 and has grown to become one of the game industry's leading technology and content creators, with a portfolio of over 20 million games sold worldwide. The merger of the two companies extends Valve's development team and provides the company with a new studio in southern California.

Turtle Rock Studios' Left 4 Dead joins a growing list of Valve's game properties which includes the Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Team Fortress and Day of Defeat series of games as well as Portal, introduced as part of The Orange Box.

"We have been seeing very strong growth with Steam and Source, our content distribution and development platforms, up over 150% over the last 12 months. Given our expectations for Left 4 Dead and our long-standing relationships with members of the Turtle Rock team, this was an easy decision. It also gives us a base from which to expand our development activities in the Los Angeles area," said Gabe Newell, president of Valve.

"Left 4 Dead fills a long-standing demand gamers have had for a co-op first-person action experience, and it will also help Valve's expansion into the console market," added Doug Lombardi, Valve's VP of marketing.

"Valve has had great success bringing in projects and teams such as Team Fortress and Portal. As I spent time working and talking with the creators of those products over the past several years, it became clear that this was the right next step for myself, my colleagues at Turtle Rock, our customers, and our products," said Michael Booth, founder and CEO of Turtle Rock Studios. "We are excited to be a part of such a visionary and forward-thinking company."

Founded in 2002 by Michael Booth, Turtle Rock Studios is the creator of Left 4 Dead, named one 2008's most wanted titles by many of today's leading game-enthusiast publications and Web sites.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam headed to PS2

It seems that the death of the Playstation 2 has been postponed again.  Dynasty Warriors: Gundam, previously for X-Box 360 and Playstation 3, is also coming out for PS2.

The game will be out in Japan on February 28th, but it's unknown if it will reach European or US shores.

Crysis Patch 1.1 Out

Crysis, Crytek's first person shooter, has received it's first patch.

The patch deals with several issues:

Improved  SLI/Crossfire support
Enhanced motion blur
Grenades have a smaller blast radius.
The speed of rockets has been tweaked for multiplayer.

The patch weighs in at about 140 MBs, and can be downloaded here.

LittleBigPlanet Delayed to September

LittleBigPlanet has been confirmed for release in September 2008. It was previously believed to come out the first quarter of '08.

It was also announced that players can now die in the game. That wasn't the case before, and developers felt that it didn't provide enough excitement if the player were immortal.

Bioware Pandemic...Workin Hard Not Hardly Working

10 new Franchises.

Yes, Bioware and Pandemic are due to create 10 new Franchises for EA. Now there is no time frame considered, but that is a lot of work to be done in such a short time period. Sonic RPG DS is still on the table, as well as Mercenaries 2.One would hope that the quality from these two studios doesn't decline, but with that type of workload, one can never tell.

Friday Wrap-up

Well, Friday was a day filled with interest. Between all of the Fighting Game Madness I was in, I happened to catch the SCREWATTACK panel, which was a chill, cool experience. They are just as they are in the videos, very approachable and gamers just like the rest of us. Plus they promised to give us a shout out...so thank Screwattack on their boards or email them and tell them how much you appreciate their vids and such.

Getting past that, the concerts were awesome, as every band did their thing. Even more gamers showed up and the competition ramped up. There was a Smash Brothers Tournament that had the crowd insane. Shout out to Glitch Gaming, as they are going to prepare some swag for us and you guys. Its part of the new Gamer Studio 2008.

Tommorrow plans to be an even bigger day than today. I'm getting back to gaming...

Adam out!

MAGFest VI Thursday Wrapup

The evening was just as chocked full of gaming as the afternoon. There were a few deals on the floor as everything from shirts to DVDs and classic games were available to buy. I couldn't help myself from picking up a few goodies, like any gamer would.

9 PM, a couple of drinks, and a few more retro games under our belt, the Welcome Meeting begins, a few minutes late, and the crowd a bit rowdy. The atmosphere is laid back in terms of circumstance, but overall the feel is quite gamerish, if you can call that a word.

Thursday was a wonderful introduction day to the Con. Besides the fun I described in my last post, I simply want to reiterate that the atmosphere was awesome. Gamers as far as the eye can see and just as friendly as that last Nintendo game you just beat.

Until tommorows update.

Live From MAGFest VI { Thursday Afternoon }

Currently sitting in the LAN room, I have a chance to sit down and reflect on the early bits of the chaoticgamerfun that is MAGFest.

Early on in the day I arrived, and It so happens that I was among the first 25 participants. Now with it came no trophy nor pomp and circumstance but the chance to meet some interesting Gamers, and to escape the nipping cold that has plauged the area recently.  While the "console" room was waiting to be opened, an Arcade machiene happened to be ready with Killer Instinct. Sure, not a technical fighter by anymeans but if games are around, gamers will play it. It consumed the core of the early people as they ooh'd and aww'd as each combo was delivered with crushing visuals.

Later in the day Karim had arrived as more gamers began to pour in. It was really interesting to sit down and actually listen to what gamers had to say. There were some registration problem, but that simply gave gamers a bit more time to meet and greet, which is never a bad thing. Eventually, the console room was opened and a myriad of games from gamer staples Marvel vs Capcom 2, to old school classics such as Mario Kart 64 and Ocarina of Time to contemporary fun such as Rock Band. Fan participation was alive and well, as reacions from cheers to boos were shown depending on your skill. This was all in good fun, however, so no hard feelings across the board.

Each of the rooms are still getting set up with more connections. I am off to enjoy some more of this gaming.

If your on your way or happen to read this post search us out...we more than likely are some of the only ones with notebooks or just check our nametags.

To more gaming!

Full DS Game Downloads Headed To The Wii.....

According to Reggie Fils-Aime, full DS game downloads for the Wii are on the horizon. Reggie is quoted as saying "complete games, as well as game samplers, will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS." Sounds like a winner in theory. There has not been an announcement as to when we can expect the service up and running as of now. The Studio will keep an eye out for further news regarding this topic.

Development on Kirby Adventure halted

Nintendo has ceased development on Kirby Adventure.  The game was originally intended for Gamecube, but later shifted to Wii. Nintendo had the following to say about Kirby:

“Unfortunately, I’m sorry to report that Nintendo no longer plans to release that unfinished Kirby title for any system. While I don’t have a specific reason that the game was canceled, I can tell you that it can happen for a variety of reasons. Nintendo is able to produce only a limited number of titles each year; when it comes time to pick those titles, we choose those that will provide the best entertainment value to the most people.”

Apparently, the title was dropped in favour of another game.

First User Created Content Available For UT3 (PS3)

If you own the PS3 version of UT3, rejoice! The first user created content is here in the form of a brand new map! The map is named "DM-Shrine" and is designed for about 2-6 players. The creator is named Thomas Browett (aka Setheran), so lets give him a hand for his efforts. Hopefully this will jumpstart the mod effort for the PS3 version. The map is available for download right here.

DMC4 PS3 Bundle On The Way (In Japan)

SCEJ has announced a Devil May Cry 4 bundle which is set for release on Jan.31, 2008. The official name is the "PLAYSTATION 3 Devil May Cry 4 Premium BD Pack" and the price is set for 47,800 yen (about 425 dollars US.) It's a limited edition bundle, but availability is unknown as of now. The bundle will feature the black or white models of the PS3. Included in the bundle:

- PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) 40GB model (CECHH00 Series)
- Devil May Cry 4
- Devil May Cry 4 Premium BD (60 minute movie)
- SIXAXIS Wireless Controller
- AC power cord x 1
- AV cable x 1
- USB cable x 1

The "Devil May Cry 4 Premium BD" is a "Blu-ray Disc (BD) containing a 60 minute high quality real-time full CG movie." Sounds good to me! Seems like a nice value to me. You get the 40 GB PS3 with DMC4 and a DMC4 Blu Ray film for 425? Japan's got it good with this one. Maybe Sony's US division will follow suit to boost sales of the PS3 version of DMC4. The Studio will be looking for it.

Thieves Steal 1,000 Boxes Of Rock Band!

2 wanna be rock stars made off with 1,000 copies of Rock Band last night after hijacking an unmarked van in LA. Police think it may have been an inside job since there was no way of knowing the contents of the vehicle from the outside. The driver was held at gunpoint and the thieves escaped with the cargo. Here's some TGS advice: If you hear about copies of Rock Band going for 45 dollars on the streets of LA, stay away. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Half Life 3 On The Way?

StuffWeLike.com is reporting that Half Life 3 is no longer fantasy, but indeed a reality. Confirmation came in an interview with Doug Lombardi of Valve. Here is an excerpt of that interview.

TS-SWL: With the ending of Episode 2 going directly to help the feeling of “must play Episode 3 now” could you give the current estimated date for Episode 3’s release?

DL: We haven’t announced a date for Ep Three just yet.

TS-SWL: Are there any current plans after Episode 3 to have a Half Life 3?

DL: We haven’t announced anything specific, but Half-Life won’t end at Episode Three – hang on to your crowbars!

Well it seems Mr. Freeman's journey shall continue. The studio will keep an eye out for any further news on Episode 3 and Half Life 3.

Halo 3 map pack released

For those of you who have played through Halo 3's maps within these last 3 months, you can breath a sigh of relief, the Heroic map pack has been released. Within the map pack are three maps, Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry.

Bungie promises this will not interfere with those who do not have these maps and will be skipped when someone in a playgroup does not have the map pack installed. The pack is available at 800 points, but for those who can exercise patience, the pack will be available for free this spring.

Comp USA closing down.

Comp USA is looking to close its doors. Its assets, once owned by Carlos Slim, have been sold off and are to be liquidated.

It isn't much to those of us that have experienced the rape prices they used to have for us PC gamers, but perhaps some people may find themselves missing the retailer.

Dual Shock 3 to be released early next year

Rest assured you may not have to go to PlayAsia to fulfill your rumble needs. Apparently, the Dual shock 3 is to be released early 2008. It isn't direct, but at least it is something to somewhat date.

Big Daddy Reigns Supreme!

VgasBioshock_logo

2kGAMES' Bioshock achieves Game of the Year status at the SpikeTV VG Awards beating out other massive FPS like Halo 3. BioShock took home three awards including Best Original Score, Best Xbox 360 Game and the big daddy of them all, Game of the Year. Call of Duty 4 and The Orange Box both were big winners with two awards each and Harmonix took the Studio of the Year as well as Best Rhythm Game and Best Soundtrack for Rock Band. I'll be waiting for the Game of the Year edition of Bioshock for the PS3 :D...here's hoping!

Dreamcast 2 :/ No go.

According to Sega, who recently told GameDaliy that it was just a renewal of the brand. The conspiracy theories should continue to ensue because while they say it was just to renew the brand, why is different from the original patent and why did they "refile" when the patent is still on the books.

Something we ponder @ the studio.

Street Fighter 4 Screenshot!

Street Fighter 4. Need I say more? First screenshot courtesy of 1up.com. And yes, it is the in game engine. There's a cover story on the game in the January EGM. The game's graphics are polygonal, but the gameplay is strictly 2D. There will be new moves, locations, and gameplay features, but the control scheme won't change. Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim are all confirmed, but no characters are known beyond those 4. That's all we know for now, so feast on the screenshot and get your lotion and towels ready.

Sega announces Phantasy Star Portable

Sega has confirmed that Phantasy Star Portable is in development for PSP.

The game will be 100% new content, as opposed to a rerelease or remake of previous Phantasy Stars. The game will play similar to Phantasy Star Universe and Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of Illuminas.

No word on online features yet, but a four player mode is confirmed to be in the game.

Sony working on in-game XMB

Sony is currently working on a feature PS3 owners have been asking for since the console's release, an in0-game Cross Media Bar (XMB). Head of Marketing Peter Dille, had this to say:

"As far as in-game XMB access, we know it's a feature that's important to our consumers. Because PS3 packs so much advanced technology 'under the hood,' it takes some time to implement major, new functionalities, but we are working hard on addressing this feature, as well as continually expand the capabilities and functionalities of PS3."

Wether the in-game XMB will differ from the regular one, or when it will be released is unknown.

Wii Fit has launched in Japan

Wiifitjapan

Wii Fit, yes, the very same thing that had most gamers groaning about the rise of the casual during E3 this year, has been released in the land of the Rising Sun. This is still to be released later this year, but as for now, your going to still have to actually play games with your wii instead of work it out...

Uhm. Yeah. >.>

Jeff Gerstmann Fired From Gamespot.....

Jeff Gerstmann was fired from Gamespot today. While most wouldn't blink an eye at this news, the reasoning behind his dismissal is raising eyebrows. According to an anonymous tipster (is there any other kind,) he was let go because of his verbal spanking of Kane And Lynch. Apparently the sponsors of K&L didn't like the fact that the game they spent so much money on to take over the front page got a horrible review. This could set a horrible precedent as far as journalistic integrity goes, but as far as I'm concerned they lost that years ago.

Turn down that damn noise! (Rock Band Mod)

Here at the studio, we love our rock band, but the drums can get kind of loud, especially as I tend to get in the zone and really start hitting {Read: Slamming} the sticks on the pads. I am sure our neighbors are really angry at us, but well...we don't care. Some of you guys may not be in that position or you may be a parent who knows your little rugrat has no rhythm and the random drum sticking really pisses you off.

Quarter to Three Forums
has found a solution...or quite a few. Take a look at the link to find something you like...or ignore the police complaints...like a real rock star, at least thats what we do.

Halo 3 garnering the wrong type of interest

It would seem that Halo 3 is catching the wrong type of interest. There is a 5 million dollar class action lawsuit being brought towards Microsoft and Bungie over the claim of the game causing Xbox 360's to crash, led by one Randy Nunez. While I haven't gotten my RROD {Red Ring's of Death } yet (knock on wood), I know plenty of people who have. Microsoft has already given a 3 year warranty to have anyone's X box to be repaired, so I do not see the point of the case, but 5 million is enough to grab our attention at the studio.

You can read more about it here.

Striker Writer's May Work on Games

Well...according to Slashdot and the good folks at EuroGamer.

"While the WGA has made no secret that it would like to eventually cover vidgame writing, it hasn't pushed the issue yet and is allowing members to work on games during the strike. 'It has been an interesting shift," says one tenpercenter who focuses on vidgames. "The literary agents are now saying, 'Why don't we get our clients over there during the strike?' even though in the past they thought the money wasn't good enough or the work is too demanding.'"

From Slashdot / Eurogamer.

Perhaps new blood will be good for the industry, dunno what to make of this really @ The Studio.

Enter the Wii Gat...aka Nyko's Perfect Shot

112607nykogun

For those who find the recently released Wii Zapper lacking in design are certainly to enjoy the brand new Perfect shot pictured above. Going to retail at a relatively cheap 12.99, this is a viable alternative for those who find the zapper a tad kiddie or futuristic for thier tastes, plus it looks kind of real...if you can forgive the color scheme . It wont be around until after the holiday's so hold on to those Zapper's for now at least.

Warhawk "Omega Dawn" Expansion On The Way

Good news Warhawk fans: there's an expansion on the way! The "Operation: Omega Dawn" expansion is set for release next month and has some interesting content. The list includes.....

  • The new Omega Factory map. This adds 5 more layouts to the Warhawk world, and it's set at night which makes teamwork an even higher priority.
  • The KT-524 Dropship. It transports a pilot, 6 other soldiers, and 1 ground vehicle. It also boasts the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. Should be extremely fun to use.
  • The large layouts from the existing maps will also be modified to include the Dropship. This should give those maps even more life.
  • All modes will be present on the new map from Deathmatch to Zones. Incognito's press release also states that this is the largest Warhawk map to date.

All good news for you Warhawk lovers out there I would think. So keep an eye out for the update. Here's hoping it's not overpriced!

Unreal Tournament III : Gone Gold

According to Mark Rein of Epic the long awaited console port of Unreal Tournament III has gone gold, allowing it to be manufactured for the PS3. This is a strong indication that the game just may make store shelves before the end of 2007 although it may not be in time for Santa.

Oh well, atleast you will have something to look forward to if someone got you Kane & Lynch or Blacksite Area 51 for Christmas.

Sick Bastards...we wouldn't do that to you @ The Studio.
